Chelsea: gains a 5 point lead

This sunday(08-11-09) Chelsea and Manchester United had a clash at the Stanford bridge, which turned out to be a pure nail biter. No goals were scored in the first half, but both teams came close. But relatively Chelsea dominated the first half with Lapard's two free kicks which were off target and other attacks by Anelka & Drogba. Lampard also recieved a cross from Anelka on the edge of the penalty area in the second half, but the England midfielder's shot was easily saved by Van der Sar. In 66th minute Reds had their best chance of the game when Wayne Rooney's broke into Chelsea's defence only to shoot a foot wide of the target. In the 76th minute came the only goal of the match when John Terry rose to glance Lampard's free-kick into the corner of the net but United were furious that Drogba appeared to be in an offside position as the ball bounced beyond Van der Sar and into the net. Red Devils were furious at the (Antikson) but the goal was not ruled out.

In the post match reactions Ancelloti (Chelsea Manager) claimed that Reds tried to influence the refree which is not allowed. Feguson (Man Utd Manager) was upset and went on to say "The referee's position to make the decision was absolutely ridiculous, he can't see anything. He's got a Chelsea player (Joe Cole) standing right in front of him and he doesn't even move.
That goal shoudn't have been allowed. It was a bad decision, but there's nothing we can do about it. You lose faith in refereeing sometimes, that's the way the players are talking in there. It was a bad one."

Chelsea went on to claim their 11 straight home win and have a 5 point lead from Red Devils at the top of the EPL Table.
